The DufferWatch Awards: Categories and Entries

Every year, DufferWatch will reward the most stellar displays of stupidity by political figures with the wide publicity and respect they deserve. Awards are selected by an independent, multi-national jury of three selected form the worlds of the arts, literature and scholarship (or, who knows, perhaps we’ll just toss the entries down the stairs and pick the one that flies the furthest, in the interests of fairness). What isn’t a mystery is that there will be an awards party, to which the winners will be invited, along with all those who submitted entries.

There are three awards:

ڈفر اعظم | Duffer-e-Azam, awarded to the the most cretinous statement or act by a public figure across South Asia, which carries a cash reward of ₹11 and a citation.

गदर्भ शिरोमणि | Gadarbh Shiromani, awarded to the most cretinous statement or act by a public figure in India, which carries a cash prize of ₹1 and a citation.

نشان ڈفر | Nishaan-e-Duffer, awarded to the most cretinous statement or act by a public figure in Pakistan

Entries are welcome: please just post a hyperlink below, with a few words on why you think they deserve this high honour. Please note that the entry must pertain to a stupid statement or act from 2019, for the first annual awards due in January, 2020.
